How We Review Apps
No download button appears on bocatoca.com until the app behind it has been tested on real devices. Ingrid Johansson, our Kids & Family Apps Reviewer, installs each Toca Boca build herself, plays it the way a family would, and only then are the version details and download information published here.
The routine stays the same for every build so results can be compared fairly. It begins with a clean installation from the APK file, followed by a permissions review, performance checks during normal creative play, and a safety scan of the file itself. When a new version arrives, the whole routine runs again before the listing is updated.

What Every Review Covers
- Clean installation from the APK file, step by step
- Permissions review before the app is played
- Performance checks during normal play sessions
- Safety scan of every file we list
- Update re-checks whenever a new version is released
For a family game like Toca Boca, Ingrid also watches how play feels for younger users: whether scenes load without long waits, whether controls stay forgiving, and whether a build behaves well on the older phones and tablets children commonly use. A version that fails a check is held back until the problem is understood and noted in our guides.
Every listing here is backed by that hands-on work, and you can read more about the reviewer behind it on Ingrid Johansson's author page.
